We really wanted to get the family out for an overnight on the boat. Shelter Cove up in Carroll Inlet was the chosen destination.
The only problem was that we had too many people to sleep on the boat. The solution to that was to take a small tent and have a couple of people sleep there. But of course, if you have a tent, you have to have a place to put it which means either a dock or on shore.
These USFS docks are not reservable, they are accessed on the first come, first served, basis. We lucked out for this trip, and we not only got the dock, but we had it to ourselves the whole time we were there. And, to top it off, the weather was stunningly beautiful.
Here's the crew for this trip.
The kids had a blast!
I put the raft down and they spent a lot of time bombing around in that. It doesn't go that fast, but it probably felt much faster to them!
There was a lot of serious dock fishing going on, and also catching jelly fish in the net.
It was a good time for cousins to reconnect with each other.
And I think Emily and her husband Kevin had a uniquely Alaskan experience which they enjoyed. Having sunny weather helped a lot.
I think little 4-year-old Hannah had a great time too.
Our time at Shelter Cove ended up much too soon. But a good time was had by all.
